Former PM victim of Trump ban

Media report, a former Norwegian PM was detained for an hour at an US airport on Tuesday.

The former PM of Norway traveled on a diplomatic passport clearly indicating whom he was. He was detained for over an hour as he had visited Iran in 2014, where he attended a human rights conference. He was held in a room at Washington Dulles’ airport, where other passengers from Africa and the Middle East were also held.

When confronted, US officials told him, he was “… detained because of a 2015 law signed by Barack Obama“. According to the former Prime Minister, this is not true, as he was allowed to travel in and out of the US without any problems after his 2014 Iran visit – till last Tuesday.

Various media have highlighted cases of EU citizens, students, young children, not allowed to enter the USA since the Trump executive order. A British family was not allowed to enter the USA because their son aged eight seems to be on a list. An Exeter University student was one of many students, banned from entering the USA. A Belgian born young Muslim whose family does not originate from any of the black-listed countries, was also banned from traveling to the US this week as he seems to be on the list. His mother is now considering legal steps to find out why her son is banned from travelling to the USA.
