Invitation cancelled and other great farces

Another day of the Bad Dude & co in power? Another day of LOL! The headlines are brilliant again. The problem is, that underneath the fun – serious implications remain.

That wall which is going to be built to keep migrants out and US citizens inside? Well, the Dumb Deal has found funds to partially pay for it. Of course, the funds are not his own money. He and his administration are going to use money from border security, coast guard and airport security.

You knew what was coming. When he was asked what he was going to do about that Russian sub patrolling along the US coast – did anybody hear the response? No – you were not deaf. The guy and is government never gave a reply. By now, that sub has probably been joined by a legion of trawlers and other subs.

Who needs the US coast guard? Who needs airport security? Who needs border patrols? What with that wall going up – in a couple of years or not.

As for his travel ban? Yesterday, he was caught chatting up tourists while standing under a painting of Hillary Clinton. Like Saddam Hussein manipulating the children of his foreign hostages, the Bad Dude used the children among the tourists as PR material.

The new version of his executive order travel ban? Travel ban 2 point three quarters is reputed to go against the US Constitution.

Like Disneyland, The White House is turned into a theme-park? Vetted tourists can visit it for a 45-minute-long self-guided tour? How much a visit will cost and where the money is going, was not revealed by the Dumb Deal and First Lady Melania.

Not that it matters much. The Trumpsies may publicly state, vetted visitors will be welcome to tour their new house. They may refer tourists to arrange such visits with their embassies. The UK embassy pointed out: “The White House website states that foreign nationals interested in touring the White House should contact their Embassy to arrange a tour. However, the Embassy has been advised by the US Department of State that this is on hold. We are therefore unable to process any applications at this time.”

Theresa May probably forgot to arrange things with her big friends. Or did the Bad Dude forgot to hike ticket prices? From online reactions it is clear, the majority of UK citizens  are no longer interested in visiting the US.

Meanwhile, spokespersons for the Dumb Deal are whining. Nobody believes them, the world believes former President Obama and others. Stands to reason. What with the claims of the Trump Tower being wired to the grid – any grid. Followed by the usual alternative facts and fake news accusation, former President Obama also released 122 prisoners from Gitmo.

Some journalists are now openly wondering how paranoid this US president is. “The sheer level of paranoia that is radiating out of the White House is untenable to the workings of a republic.” One problem with this remark: is this president, any of his advisors and hanger-ons, is his administration – and ultimately his party – are all these at all interested in the workings or even the outward appearances of a republic?
